Miriam Margolyes has revealed the one guest on The Graham Norton Show she didn’t enjoy meeting.
The Harry Potter actress, 83, has made a number of memorable appearances on BBC chat show over the years, often leaving others on the famous red sofa shocked and in hysterics by her no-filtered anecdotes.
From striking up an unlikely camaraderie with music producer will.i.am to previously voicing her “regret” following her interactions with late Friends star Matthew Perry, who could have got Margolyes’ back up so much?
The answer is singer-turned-actress Lily Allen.
Margolyes and the 39-year-old Smile hit-maker appeared on the Irish chat show host’s show in 2014 alongside The Crown actor Dominic Cooper, 46.
Recalling what went down while being interviewed by author Philippe Sands at Hay Festival, the the London-born star explained: “She thought when she was on the programme that it was all about her. She thought, ‘Who is this woman? Miriam who?’”
Margolyes continued: “She wasn’t friendly and I didn’t like that and so I showed my dislike, which wasn’t very nice of me because she was much younger than me and I should have just taught her how to behave.”
The Standard has contacted a representative for Lily Allen for comment.
Allen wasn’t the only person Margolyes took aim at during her chat at the event in Brecon Beacons National Park over the weekend however.
She also said that Monty Python star John Cleese “has become an a***hole” while Bill Oddie “is not a nice man”.
