Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes has revealed that she didn’t enjoy the wizarding world, despite playing the role of Professor Sprout in two of the movies.
The loose-lipped icon starred as Head of the Herbology department at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Fans will remember the British actor performing magic in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets released in 2002 and 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 .
But despite the success of the film series, Margolyes has confessed that she’s not actually a Potterhead herself.
She sent a personalised video message to a fan, wishing him a happy 30th birthday, on Cameo, where she introduced herself as “Professor Sprout from Harry Potter”.
Then she dropped the bombshell: “I understand you and Chris are huge Harry Potter fans. Here’s the thing, I’m not.
“I’m not against it, I’m just not interested. I’ve never seen a film. I’ve never seen the books, I’ve never read them. I just pocket the money when it comes and I’m very grateful for it.

She continued: "I think that JK Rowling is a terrific writer, and I'm sure that Harry Potter's world is a good world. But it's not my world.
"I have to step very gingerly over the gap between you and me, and hope that you'll understand that despite the fact that I'm headmistress of Hufflepuff and you're in Gryffindor, I don't really want to talk about 'Harry Potter.'"
The 81-year-old recently told Metro.co.uk that at the time of filming, she wasn’t particularly impressed with the amount she was paid.
She told the publication: “I never made Harry Potter millions. I think the three or four main people did and they deserve it but my character didn’t.
“I was only in two and I only got £60,000 for being Professor Sprout but I’m not grumbling... now.
"I grumbled then but it made me very famous.”
Earlier this month, the actor paid tribute to fellow co-star Robbie Coltrane following his death from multiple organ failure aged 72.
Speaking on BBC ’s Radio 4, she said: “He was a very fine actor and a delightful man. He was huge in stature and personality and also in heart.
“I just feel furious that he has died, [it’s] such a waste. He was exceptional and I am really sad.”
She described the late actor as ‘irreplaceable’, adding: “He's absolutely a unique figure and powerful and towering over Scotland. I really loved him and I'm so sad about it [his death].”
The Harry Potter films are available to stream on Prime Video and Now TV.
