"Miracle baby" of Turkey earthquake reunited with mom after DNA test

We all remember the innocent and angelic face of the baby who was rescued from rubbles 128 hours after the devastating earthquake in Turkey, which happened in February this year.

It was reported that the mother of the infant had passed away in the earthquake while the baby was trapped under the rubble and survived there for 128 hours before the rescuers brought her out. However, recent information about the girl reveals a miraculous reunion with her mother.

As per media reports, the girl was named Aya, which means miracle in Arabic.

Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey, Derya Yanik, has tweeted about the baby.

"54 days of longing is over. Vetin Begdaş, who was rescued from the wreckage after 128 hours and named Gizem Bebek by our nurses, was reunited with her mother after 54 days. Vetin is now our baby too. As the Ministry, our support will always be with you," she has tweeted originally in Turkish (the translation is generated by Google algorithm).

Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Gerashchenko, has also tweeted about the baby's miraculous union with her mother. "You probably remember this picture of the baby who spent 128 hours under rubble after an earthquake in Turkey. It was reported that the baby's mom died. Turns out, the mom is alive! She was treated in a different hospital. After 54 days apart and a DNA test, they are together again," he has tweeted.

On February 6, 2023 an earthquake of intensity 7.8 shook southern and central Turkey and northern and western Syria. It was estimated that 16% of Turkey's population, which is about 14 million people, was affected due to the earthquake.
