A Minnesota man is facing serious charges after allegedly holding his 19-year-old girlfriend against her will, subjecting her to physical abuse and burns over several days. The accused, a 22-year-old man from St. Paul, is currently in custody at Ramsey County Jail.
The victim was found by Metro Transit officers at a bus shelter in St. Paul with severe burns to her face, arms, and torso. She also had a stab wound and other injuries that required treatment at a hospital's burn unit.
According to police reports, the victim revealed that she had been kidnapped from Chicago in November and forced into prostitution. She identified the accused as her boyfriend and stated that he had assaulted and burned her multiple times between January 27 and January 29.
The abuse allegedly began when the accused became violent during an argument, resulting in the victim being forcibly shaved and burned with boiling water. The victim also reported being choked and stabbed by the accused during the ordeal.
Despite attempts to escape, the victim was prevented from leaving by the accused, who also destroyed her bus ticket when she tried to depart. The victim described a pattern of alternating between violent attacks and caring behavior from the accused.
After the victim was able to contact authorities, police obtained a search warrant for the accused's apartment. Evidence found at the scene corroborated the victim's account, including hair clippings, pots matching those used in the assaults, and clothing with bloodstains.
During police questioning, the accused initially denied involvement in the abuse but later admitted to some of the acts, claiming they were accidental. He also alleged that the victim had been a victim of sex trafficking and had been attacked by another individual.
The victim expressed fear for her life and emphasized the need for the accused to be held accountable for his actions. The accused faces charges of kidnapping and assault, with the investigation ongoing to ensure justice for the victim.
