Minnesota Governor Tim Walz expressed his gratitude towards Vice President Kamala Harris during remarks made in his home state on Friday following an election defeat earlier in the week. Walz, a former Democratic vice presidential candidate, took the stage amidst laughter from the crowd, acknowledging the challenging week he had experienced.
Walz specifically thanked Harris for the faith she had in him and praised the powerful and joyful campaign she had run. He expressed his appreciation for her leadership and friendship, emphasizing the impact she had on him personally.
Although Harris had delivered her concession speech on Wednesday, Walz did not speak at that event. Instead, he took the opportunity in front of his supporters to express his gratitude to each person who had stood by him during the campaign, calling it an honor of a lifetime to have their support.
With two years remaining in his term, Walz returned to Minnesota to continue serving as governor. His wife, First Lady Gwen Walz, also addressed the crowd, extending their thanks to the supporters for their unwavering dedication. She described Harris as a remarkable leader and expressed her belief that Harris would have made a remarkable president.
Gwen Walz acknowledged the disappointment of the defeat, stating that losing stings and encouraging individuals to allow themselves to feel sadness and grieve over what could have been.
