Minnesota Governor Tim Walz addressed attendees at a fundraiser for Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday evening in Minneapolis. During his 11-minute speech, Governor Walz did not confirm whether he has been selected as Harris' running mate. He expressed admiration for Harris, calling her an incredible candidate.
Walz is currently one of the final three potential candidates being considered for the vice presidential selection by Harris. The decision is expected to be announced before a campaign rally in Philadelphia scheduled for Tuesday.
In his speech, Governor Walz discussed a new approach he helped develop for Democrats, referring to former President Donald Trump, vice presidential candidate JD Vance, and some Republican allies as 'weird.' He clarified that this was meant as an observation rather than a derogatory term.
Walz emphasized that his characterization of certain individuals as 'weird' was not a blanket statement about all Republicans. He acknowledged that there are Republicans whom he respects and cares for, stating, 'They're my neighbors. These are people that I love.' He stressed the importance of engaging in constructive discourse on policy differences.
