The sale of an architecturally-designed renovated 1920s home at 48 Stanley Street, Hamilton South has set a new record.
Owned by Mitchel Ross, coach to champion surfers Carissa Moore and Jackson Baker, and his wife Melisa, the property sold for a record-breaking $3,010,000 through PRD's Natalie Tonks.
"It's a street record. We have broken the three million dollar mark, so that is very exciting," Ms Tonks said.
"It was a great result for the purchasers and the vendor because it's such a cool property. It deserved it."
The previous record on Stanley Street was $2,065,000 paid for number 52 in March 2021.
Designed by Shane Blue of Bourne + Blue, the couple paid $950,000 for the house in mid-2020 and undertook a major renovation with a huge open-plan extension at the rear of the home featuring polished concrete flooring and a 3.8 metre raked ceiling.
Other additions include a self-contained studio, a solar-heated pool and covered alfresco area.
The contemporary home takes its cues from the minimalistic styles of interior designers Axel Vervoordt and Antonio Citterio, effortlessly blending the original home with a modern minimalist extension.
They moved into the original home shortly before the first Covid-19 lockdown of 2020 and spent three months living in the property before they undertook the year-long renovation.
Mr Ross said the couple was mindful of retaining the history of the home and restoring the facade given its position set among heritage homes in Hamilton South, with contemporary additions created to suit their family while also being functional and welcoming.
