Mindy Kaling to receive Norman Lear Achievement Award from Producers Guild of America

Mindy Kaling will be honored with the Norman Lear Achievement Award at the Producers Guild of America awards on Feb. 25.

The award, whose previous recipients included Lorne Michaels, Dick Wolf and Marta Kaufman, is named after the trailblazing television producer behind classic shows such as “All In the Family,” “Maude,” “Good Times” and “The Jeffersons.”

The not-for-profit organization said in its announcement Wednesday that the Norman Lear Award recognizes a producer or producing team for their extraordinary body of work in television.

“It is such an honor to be asked to receive the Norman Lear Award, a prize named after the prolific and groundbreaking producer I am so inspired by,” the Emmy Award-nominated star of “The Office” and “The Mindy Project” said in a statement.

“To be included in this prestigious group of past recipients is humbling, and I’m so grateful to the Producers Guild for this recognition.”

With a slew of upcoming high profile projects including “Legally Blonde 3″ and the Scooby-Doo prequel, “Velma,” the 43-year-old creator and executive producer currently has two hit shows streaming: the Netflix series, “Never Have I Ever,” and “The Sex Lives of College Girls” on HBO Max.
