Mimi Webb halts Newcastle gig three times as fans suffer medical issues

A concerned Mimi Webb called a halt to her Newcastle gig on three separate occasions on Monday night as fans suffered medical issues.

The Red Flags and House on Fire was at the o2 City Hall for only the second date of her Amelia tour, with the nationwide jaunt taking its name from her first full album of the same name. Anticipation was high for Mimi's arrival on stage, with many fans queuing up hours before the venue's doors opened, to be sure that they had a prime spot down the front.

She made her entrance shortly after 9.30pm, launching straight into Ghost of You, before also delighting with Amelia tracks Remind You and See You Soon. The first epic singalong of the night came with the performance of 2021 hit 24/5, which the audience sang back to Mimi word for word.

The 22-year-old was half way through Amelia album opener The Other Side when she told her band to stop playing, having spotted someone fainting in the crowd. After making sure she was OK, Mimi then asked security to hand out more water to fans down near the front of the crowd, adding that she "needed a hose pipe," before telling everyone inside to take a step back to make more room.

As the fan who fainted was escorted out, Mimi then led the audience in a breathing exercise to try and calm everyone down, only to have to stop the show again shortly after, just as she finished Dumb Love, as a second fan also fainted.

She was at the midway point of Roles Reversed when she then paused the show for a third time as another fan took ill and was then carried out by security as Mimi told her friends to send her her love.

The encore of the show went off without a hitch, with Last Train to London seeing the crowd light up their phones, before things were brought to a crescendo by Red Flags and House on Fire.
