Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis recently shared that his home was burglarized while he was playing in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night. Portis, 29, took to his social media accounts to seek help, posting surveillance footage of his front door in hopes of gathering information about the perpetrators.
In his post, Portis expressed his distress, stating, 'This is a place I've considered home. While I was at my game yesterday, I had a home invasion, and they took most of my prized possessions.'
Sources suggest that Portis believes the burglary was targeted, given its timing during the Bucks' game on Saturday. Portis has since filed a police report, although specific details about the stolen items were not disclosed.
Portis, who began his fifth year with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024, played a key role in the team's NBA championship victory in 2021. Known for his scoring and rebounding abilities, Portis has been a valuable asset to the Bucks since joining them in the 2020-21 season following a stint with the New York Knicks.
Currently averaging 11 points and 7.7 rebounds in six games this season, Portis aims to build on his impressive stats from the previous year, where he averaged 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game over 24.5 minutes.
Originally selected as the 22nd overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls after playing college basketball at Arkansas, Portis spent three and a half seasons with the Bulls before being traded to the Washington Wizards during the 2018-19 season.
Portis has been a consistent performer, finishing third in the Sixth Man of the Year voting for the past two seasons. The NBA community stands in solidarity with Portis during this challenging time and hopes for a swift resolution to the burglary incident.
