Millwall fans in transfer deadline day plea as Nottingham Forest eye late deal

Millwall fans would be happy to let Jed Wallace leave for Nottingham Forest to avoid losing the winger for nothing this summer.

Fresh reports today claimed that Forest were preparing a late bid for the wide man who is ranked as one of the most Championship's highly-rated talents.

Wallace is out of contract in the summer meaning he can leave on a free transfer at the end of the season with Besiktas eager to take him to Turkey.

But Forest have been keen on Wallace for some time with Reds fans eager for him to be next through the door at the City Ground.

And with Millwall set to lose a top player for nothing if he does not move today, fans have been reacting on Twitter. Here is what they had to say.

Dan Norris: "Should (have) sold at the start of the window all this Jed situation has mucked up our window."

MFCGav: "Time to sell today as he wants out anyway."

Char: "No brainer sell him get players in the summer."

Harry: "SELL HIM!"

David: "Millwall hardly hold all the cards, but Forest are in a league pos where they can afford to put in a solid bid, given their standing (despite yesterday). Less than 2m and we might as well keep him and see what happens. £3m and Forest still get a decent player for 1/4 of their value."

Ricky: "£5m is the club’s valuation so they need to cough up more than £1.5m."

Conor: "Club legend without doubt, but defo worth getting some money than letting him go for free in 4 months."

Pearcey: "Let him go."

Reg: "100 per cent sell him like every other club would, if good players don’t commit their long term future within the last 18 months you gotta try and cash in."

Millwall boss Gary Rowett addressed the interest in Wallace last week.

He insisted he was hopeful the player would remain in south London, but conceded the Lions would consider the right offer.

“There is the possibility that someone could come in and offer an amount of money we’d have to sensibly look at,” Rowett told London News Online.

“We’ve said it all along that we don’t want to lose Jed – he’s been a top, top player for us. That has always been our stance.

“We’ve missed that spark, pace and creativity he brings in this period of games he has been unavailable. As it stands it looks like nothing like that [a move] is going to be an issue for the club.

“Hopefully he can get fit and impact us and we’ll see where we are in the summer, because that’s a different story – that’s not really anything that any of us can control.

“What we want to do is get the best out of Jed again and for him to try and help the team, like he has done so many times in the past.”

Wallace, whose Millwall contract expires in the summer, hasn’t played since December due to injury.
