Millions start getting second cost-of-living payment

Millions of tax credit claimants are starting to receive the second cost-of-living payment. HMRC has confirmed that the cash is beginning to be rolled out.

Yesterday (November 22), the Government body announced that payments were due to be sent out to tax credit-only claimants from today (November 23). It has now confirmed that "payments have started to arrive as planned".

Angela MacDonald, HMRC’s deputy chief executive, said: “This second cost-of-living payment will provide further financial support to eligible tax credit-only claimants across the UK. The £324 will be paid automatically into bank accounts, so people don't need to do anything to receive this extra help.”

HMRC advised that tax credit customers who believe they are eligible but have not received a £324 payment between the below payment dates should wait until December 7 to contact HMRC. This is to allow time for their bank, building society or credit union to process the payment.

The full list of payment dates for HMRC and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) claimants is detailed below.
