More than £3.8 million has been allocated to West Dunbartonshire Council to develop communities and improve life chances by the UK Government.
The UK’s shared prosperity fund allows the local authority to use the money between 2022 and March 2025 and will be made available following the approval of the regional investment plan submitted to Westminster.
If approved, the funding will be invested in communities to restore public spaces and relationships while creating safe neighbourhoods through crime prevention. It will also support local businesses by helping them to thrive, innovate and grow.

There will be visible improvements to local retail, hospitality and leisure sector facilities and targeted support for small and medium sized businesses.
The money will also help to reduce the barriers some people face when it comes to employment and support them when it comes to getting a job.
During the meeting, questions were asked about the money and when local communities would be able to apply for funding.
Labour councillor Michelle McGinty said: “Alexandria traders were advised that this fund might be coming forward which might be able to help them with some visual improvements to their shops.
“There was no detail on when that might be available or when they might be available to apply for. I would ask that they be given information about this as soon as possible.”
It was confirmed that it was still early stages but stakeholders would be updated accordingly.
Peter Barry, chief officer - housing and employability, said: “It is too early at this stage to provide that amount of detail, as the money hasn’t been approved yet, but there is a process that allows key stakeholders to understand what we are doing and to make a contribution and receive funding as appropriate.”
