A millionaire mega-mansion has gone up for sale in Merseyside, set within private grounds.
Rock Mount wouldn’t look out of place in the Hills of Los Angeles but instead it’s found in the sought after Wirral village of Caldy. The six bedroom house, on a private road off Thorsway, is sitting on an elevated plot of private land.
Based within a Conservation Area and on the site of a former quarry, its location provides ‘stunning’ views over North Wales and the Dee Estuary. Priced at £3,750,000 , there’s plenty on offer for the millions of pounds, including an outdoor swimming pool, a wrap-around terrace and detached double garage.

Being one of the most affluent areas of Merseyside, properties in Caldy had an overall average price of £766,562 over the last year. However, it’s not unusual for homes to sell for more than £1,000,000 in the area.
Most of the sales over the last 12 months were detached homes, selling for an average price of £913,417. Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £380,000, with flats fetching £272,000.
Overall, sold prices over the last year in the area were 24% down on the previous year and 21% down on the 2012 peak of £969,495. Caldy is known for attracting celebrities and footballers, due to its exclusivity and the lavish choice of properties available.
Famous footballers who’ve called the area home over the years include Robbie Fowler, Ian Rush and former Everton manager Rafa Benitez. Rock Mount was built in 2011, commissioned by the current owners who hired renowned architects Shedkm to deliver the project.
Estate Agents Savills said the home was nominated for RIVA Mansell house of the year in 2013, with the judges saying it has characteristics of "America’s west coast mid-century modern homes" and it is an "original and inspiring new composition that matches the quality of its setting in every way."
The main residence is surrounded by greenery and landscaped gardens that include mature trees and a raised patio area. The main large terrace, extends the living area, providing seamless outside/inside accommodation through floor to ceiling sliding doors.
Large windows and sliding doors lead to a porch that wraps around the house and benefits from sweeping views. The outside area is also made up of an outdoor kitchen and heated swimming pool.
The Savills listing reads: "The house aimed to suit a family with progressive views on design, give fantastic views from the living areas, and make the most of the topography of the site. A long, low built form was developed and orientated east-west, jutting out of the crest of the hill and reaching out to the view.
"This element contained the living space positioned in the most exposed location with sleeping spaces for the children facing the garden. On the floor below, set into the hillside, ancillary spaces were laid out, with a play space and a guest suite in a far corner providing privacy."
