Millionaire footballer bursts out laughing when asked if team could travel by train to help climate crisis

Football superstar Kylian Mbappe laughed at the prospect of taking a train instead of a private jet to help with the climate crisis.

Paris Saint-Germain face Juventus in the UEFA Champions League at 8pm on Tuesday evening, and the press conference for the game was attended by Mbappe and new boss Christophe Galtier, following the sacking of former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

A reporter asked the pair whether they would consider travelling by train instead of flying, in an effort to help with the climate crisis.

It comes after French rail boss Alain Krakovitch called out PSG for not using the train to travel to Nantes for their Ligue 1 match last weekend despite it being just a two-hour train journey.

He said: "Paris to Nantes is less than two hours with TGV INOUI (French rail service)" and even offered them a private train according to political reporter Paul Larrouturou. For more context, it's just a four hour drive away.

When asked by the reporter whether they would consider taking the train, Galtier looked at Mbappe who burst out laughing.

The PSG boss gave a sarcastic answer to the reporter once the laughing had died down, according to Get French Football.

"I thought I would get that question. To be very honest with you, this morning we spoke with the company that organises our trips, and we’re trying to see if we can travel by sand yacht."

There has been considerable backlash following this response, with French sports minister and former pro tennis player Amélie Oudéa-Castéra responding by tweeting: "M. Galtier, we’re used to more relevant and responsible answers from you – shall we speak about this?"

This comes not long after Mbappe signed one of the biggest contracts in sporting history. Quashing the Real Madrid rumours, he put pen to paper on a deal that would see him earn £250 million over three years.

Mbappe is now one of the most powerful figures at PSG, after being given huge political authority as part of his new deal.
