Millie Gibson reveals next step after Corrie exit but rules out one specific role

Millie Gibson has teased what's next for her after quitting Coronation Street.

The actress - who plays Kelly Neelan on the ITV soap - will exit the show in dramatic scenes this week, as Kelly, Gary Windass, Aadi Alahan all get caught up in a huge rooftop gun showdown with kidnapper Kieron. As they all fight for their lives, a gun rings out - but who has been shot, and whose life is hanging in the balance?

Now Millie has opened up about her plans for the coming months, as she admitted there is one role she will not be taking on next. She has also revealed she'd love to take part in a period drama if it became available.

She said: "I'm currently auditioning so I’m just going to see how that goes. I've got so many roles in mind. I'm trying to keep myself grounded but at the same time I need to bet on myself, if that makes sense. I really like dramas, I’d love to do a drama again. A period drama would be incredible – I'd have to take my lashes off!"

As this careers of former Coronation Street stars including Katherine Kelly, Suranne Jones and Michelle Keegan, were mentioned, Millie admitted she would love to have a similar career arc to theirs.

"They’ve had such incredible careers. For me to have a quarter of their career would be incredible. I’d love that," she added.

Millie also explained she will be taking a little break as the scenes have been quite dramatic to film.

She said: "I’m looking forward to just having a bit of a break. I'm going on holiday at the end of the month with my cousin Amy and we’re going to Italy for a week. I think I’ll really need it by the time that comes around."

Millie previously explained her reason for leaving the soap.

Lifting the lid on her departure from the show, she explained: "I have no responsibilities – I don’t have kids, I don’t have a mortgage to pay or anything like that, I’m still grateful to be living at home. So I thought I’m just going to see what else the world has. If it does, it does - that would be quite good, wouldn’t it? I just thought I might as well see what happens while I’m still young.

"Because I’m so young I thought I’ve got to leave. It was a decision where it would always be in the back of my mind if I didn’t make it, so I had to just go with it and see what happens."
