Millie Bobby Brown shuts down photographer over ‘boyfriend’ request

Millie Bobby Brown firmly corrected a photographer who mistakenly referred to her husband as her "boyfriend."

The Stranger Things star, 21, married Jake Bongiovi, 23, in May 2024 during an intimate ceremony in the Hamptons, attended by close friends and family.

Currently promoting her new Netflix film, The Electric State, Brown attended the Los Angeles premiere on Monday, where she posed for photos.

At one point, two photographers were heard calling for Brown to “get your boyfriend” in the shots, prompting her to sharply correct them: “He’s not my boyfriend.”

The photographers quickly apologised, and Brown with a smile responded, “It’s OK.”

Bongiovi, the son of Jon Bon Jovi, later joined Brown for photos, with the couple appearing to laugh off the moment together.

The Enola Holmes star shared news of her engagement to Bongiovi in April 2023 with a black-and-white Instagram photo, quoting lyrics from Taylor Swift’s Lover:

“I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ‘em all,” she wrote alongside their engagement announcement.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Brown revealed that Bongiovi proposed using a ring given to him by her mother, Kelly.

“I’ve always loved that ring, it’s always stuck out to me, so she gave it to Jake,” she told the outlet.

“They were in cahoots about the whole proposal. I love that I can always keep a piece of my mum with me.”

Two months after their proposal, the couple celebrated with a private engagement party, posing for photos in front of heart-shaped white balloons and a glowing sign that read: “Mr & Mrs Bongiovi.”

The couple secretly tied the knot in May in the Hamptons, attended by close friends and family.

Then last September, the newly-weds threw a lavish second ceremony in Italy, which was attended by Mark Wright and his family.

Brown previously said from the moment they met, she knew he was the one.

She recalled: “I ran to my mum and said: ‘I really, really like him!’ After we met we knew we never wanted to leave each other’s side.

“You can’t pinpoint why, it’s just the feeling of knowing that that’s the person you want to spend the rest of your time with.

“I think so much of life is overthinking. The one thing that made clear sense to me was him. So I didn’t really have to do much thinking.”
