Millie Bobby Brown responds to rumours she will play Britney Spears in biopic

Millie Bobby Brown has spoken out following rumours that she is set to play Britney Spears in an upcoming biopic.

When asked on Capital Radio if she would be playing the popstar, she said: “I don’t know, I’ve not been… Obviously, I know that everybody is creating their own narrative.”

In 2022, speaking on the Drew Barrymore Show, Millie admitted her “dream role” would be to play Britney. And the speculation has been flying since, especially with Millie recently dying her hair blonde.

When she was told by presenter Jimmy Hill that fans would love to see her play Britney, she replied: “I respect that, I love that. I know I think that, you know, everything is in the talks, but for me personally I, you know…

“If it’s done basically with or without me, I’m so, so, so excited for it, and I think it’s going to be a brilliant story with a brilliant core, which is, you know, Britney.”

Previously, Millie has said she is “in full support of her bringing her story to life how she wants to”.

It was announced in August last year that a Britney biopic was officially in the works, and that it will be directed by Wicked’s Jon M Chu - following the release of her autobiography, The Woman In Me, in October 2023 which covered her battle to end her conservatorship.

The director has also said that Britney is going to be “very, very involved” with the project. And he’s also said that he will take “fan-casting” into consideration.

“But we'll have to see what the approach of the movie is before we know who's right for it,” he added.

During the interview on Capital, Millie also revealed that she is still on a family Netflix subscription - just like One Day star Leo Woodall.

“I’m still using my parent’s account,” she admitted.

“I kind of refuse to pay for the subscription, because my parents pay and I’m still a child in my eyes, and in their eyes. So yeah, I’m part of the family deal.”

Tune into The Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hill, weekdays from 7pm-10pm on Capital and Global Player.
