Miley Cyrus broke down in tears as she paid tribute to her late friend Taylor Hawkins before dedicating her performance to him.
The 29-year-old singer sobbed as she told fans of her anguish at losing the Foo Fighters drummer while she was on stage at Lollapalooza Brazil on Saturday.
The musician died on Friday aged 50, having tragically been found dead in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia.
The former Hannah Montana star took to the stage in Brazil on Saturday night for the headline slot at Lollapalooza, where Foo Fighters had been due to perform the following day.
The star sobbed as she told fans: “We had to make this emergency landing and the first person that I called was Taylor, because he was already at the festival.”
She was referring to a private jet she had been on earlier in the week which had to make an emergency landing after being struck by lightning.
Miley was en route to the Asunciónico Music Festival in Paraguay, where Foo Fighters had been headliners a day before.
With a trembling voice, Miley said: “That would’ve been a time that I would’ve gone to see my friend, and I didn’t, so it makes me really sad.”
She wiped away a tear and added: “I would’ve done anything to hang out with him one more time.”
“I know that I get on stage, and anytime that I get to play with my band – which if anything ever f**king happened to any of them it would f**king kill me, so I couldn’t imagine how the Foo Fighters feel today,” she went on.
Miley dedicated her performance to her late friend and then sat on stage singing her track Angels Like You in front of a giant backdrop image of Taylor.
Fans were seen crying in the audience as the Malibu singer performed.
On Sunday, it was reported that Hawkins’ heart weighed double that of most men his age when he tragically died.
Forensic experts discovered his heart weighed "at least 600 grams" during an autopsy following his shocking death on Friday at a luxury hotel in the north of the Colombian capital Bogota.
Investigators concluded the 50-year-old suffered cardiovascular collapse after binging on a cocktail of drugs, respected Colombian news magazine Semana reported.
It also said authorities had confirmed the famed musician had overdosed on heroin mixed with antidepressants and benzodiazepines which are psychoactive drugs known as benzos.
Colombia’s Attorney General’s office had confirmed an initial autopsy carried out on Saturday revealed traces of 10 different drugs in Hawkins’ urine, including opioids which can range from heroin to fentanyl and morphine, marihuana and antidepressants.
