New Carolina Panthers Shy Tuttle and Miles Sanders both hosted free football camps out of their old stomping grounds this weekend. But the circumstances behind them were a little different.
As opposed to Tuttle, whose arrival in the Tar Heel State marks a return to his hometown, Sanders—a Pittsburgh, Pa. native—is away from home for the first time in his football career.
“It’s a little weird. I’m not going to lie,” Sanders said, via Josh Rizzo of TribLIVE. “I’m from Pittsburgh, went to Penn State and went to Philly. It’s my first time being out of state, so it’s a little weird. I like it. I’m excited for a new journey and a new beginning.”
The 26-year-old running back, with the help of personal trainer and former youth football coach Craig Williams, put on the second Miles Sanders Youth Football Camp on Sunday morning. Sanders, a Woodlands Senior High School graduate, held the event from his alma mater’s playing field—the Wolvarena at Turtle Creek, Pa.

Sanders said he hopes he can connect with the youth and teach them key life lessons.
“I want them to do whatever they can to get where I’m at,” he stated. “There’s a lot of discipline and hard work and listening to the parents, most importantly. We want to instill into their brains that listening to parents is the most important thing. The way things are right now, sticking together family-wise is the best way to go.”
