A man has been rushed to hospital after a fire broke out at a block of flats in Mile End.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to the maisonette in Southern Grove at roughly 11.26am on Tuesday following reports that the first-floor of the four-storey block had been damaged by fire.
A man and woman were treated for smoke inhalation. The man was then rushed to hospital where he remains.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called today (13 September) at 11:32 to reports of a fire on Southern Grove, Hackney.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, and members of our hazardous area response team.”
