The Oscars acknowledged the horrifying conflict in Ukraine on Sunday night as the ceremony held a moment of silence.
The 94th edition of the annual awards ceremony saw slides appear on screen which said: "We'd like to have a moment of silence to show our support for the people of Ukraine currently facing invasion, conflict and prejudice within their own borders.
"While film is an important avenue for us to express our humanity in times of conflict, the reality is millions of families in Ukraine need food, medical care, clean water and emergency services.
"Resources are scarce, and we, collectively as a global community, can do more.
"We ask you to support Ukraine in any way you are able #standwithukraine."
It followed Mila Kunis' emotional words to the world's "courage" as she paid her own tribute to those caught up in the Ukraine crisis while introducing a musical performance by Reba McEntire.
Speaking on stage, the actress, 38, said: "Recent global events have left us feeling gutted yet when you witness the strength and dignity of those facing such devastation it's impossible not to be moved by their resilience.
"One cannot help but be in awe of those who find strength to keep fighting through unimaginable darkness."
Mila, who was born in Ukraine, and her Hollywood husband Ashton Kutcher, 44, have been helping to raise millions to support Ukrainian refugees.
The couple donated up to $3 million of their own money as their fundraiser raced over $30 million in two weeks.
Last week, the celeb couple were praised by Ukrainian president Voldymyr Zelensky for their help for humanitarian aid for the war-torn country.
The trio spoke to each other via video link and Zelensky tweeted an image of himself talking to the couple thanking them for their support alongside the caption: "Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were among the first to respond to our grief."
He continued: "Grateful for their support. Impressed by their determination. They inspire the world. #StandWithUkraine”
The moment's silence at the Oscars was a rare mention of the catastrophic events at the ceremony, but many guests decided to show their support with their outfits.
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis was among those showing their support as she wore a blue ribbon during a red carpet appearance.
The United Nations Refugee Agency distributed the ribbons to the stars to wear before and during the 94th Academy Awards.
The ribbons include the hashtag #withtherefugees to show support not only for those fleeing Ukraine but the 85million people displaced around the world.
