MIL From Hell Goes Out Of Her Way To Ruin Son’s Wedding, Now The Entire Town Hates Her

Weddings generally come with some degree of drama, but normally it’s relegated to some pre-wedding stress, a little too much to drink, and bickering over seating arrangements. But sometimes events can spiral out of control.

A netizen described an incident where a bride had red paint thrown on her by people hired by her MIL. The story spread like wildfire across the Mexican town it happened in and then throughout the internet. We got in touch with OP who shared the story, as well as some photos from the event.

OP provided some key additional details

Bored Panda got in touch with Larilarieh who shared the story and they were kind enough to provide some additional information. It’s important to note that OP is not the bride in the event, but is from the same town. First and foremost, we asked if she had any more details and why she wanted to share the story with the internet.

“Obviously, this isn’t my story to tell, so I don’t have much to add, but I can share the Twitter thread that has more pictures and screenshots of the conversations. They are all in Spanish, but there is a lot that I left out from the text from the bride that you might find interesting.” Unfortunately, even among the many terrible wedding experiences we have covered in the past, this one might take the cake.

“I’ve read many similar stories in the wedding shaming sub throughout the years, but I think what’s most engaging about this one is that there is photographic evidence, something rarely found in these posts. I know that without the photos the post wouldn’t have gotten as many upvotes and it would’ve been called fake,” they shared with Bored Panda.

More commonly, weddings are disrupted by the people actually in them

“This happened in my mom’s hometown and I got the photos through a group chat with my friends. It’s gotten a ton of attention, not just in that city but nationwide. Everyone is shocked. And it seems like people have confronted them. A friend’s mom knows the MIL and she said she felt sorry for her husband, so I guess she’s always been a bit crazy.”

“Apparently a friend of SIL asked her about her involvement and she denied it but with a very cynical laugh she said she thought it was hilarious, like she liked that it happened and that she’s not the only person in the family to hate her.”

This wouldn’t be the first time in-laws have decided to go berserk over a wedding they disapprove of. Some folks, unfortunately, feel they are entitled to decide who their relatives can marry, never mind autonomy or the fact that they might not have the best information. The result is a degree of tension at a wedding that can turn a lot uglier like this story showcased.

That being said, there are enough examples of the “happy” couple being the real villains behind the scenes. While it often gets pinned on the “bridezilla,” there are often enough parties committed to making a “dream” ceremony without considering the costs or the actual survivability of the marriage.

The MIL’s plan is downright delusional

Fortunately, as OP stated, the wedding still managed to go through. After all, in the MIL’s delusions, the lack of a white dress and wedding photos might disrupt the whole thing, but fortunately for everyone involved, that was simply not the case. It’s also reassuring to know that, in the town this happened, enough people felt this was the last straw and confronted the MIL. We will update the story when we learn more on this topic.

By using red paint that is evocative of blood, the MIL managed to also startle the guests, who were innocent bystanders in this event. This is also perhaps why the reaction against these insane in-laws was so visceral. Disrupting a wedding is bad enough, but scaring a whole lot of people with whom you have no quarrel is just plain evil.
