Mikey Moore set to sign first professional contract with Tottenham

Teen star Mikey Moore is set to sign his first professional contract with Tottenham after he turns 17 this weekend.

Moore has been tipped for a bright future and he made his debut for Spurs at the end of last season.

The midfielder was just 16 years, nine months and three days old at the time, making him Tottenham’s youngest ever player to appear in the Premier League.

Moore has featured frequently for Tottenham during pre-season this summer, scoring twice.

Most recently, the midfielder scored the winner during a friendly with Japanese side Vissel Kobe and Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou hinted after that he could get minutes in the first team this season.

“Mikey has been fantastic since we brought him in,” said Postecoglou. “He’s earned his spot on the roster at the moment - he did at the end of last year.

“He got a run with the first team because we could see in training that he was handling himself really well and that’s followed through into pre-season training.

“He’s been good in all the games - he probably should have had three tonight, to be fair - but he did take his goal well by being in the right areas.

“All we can do is keep allowing him to develop. We have to remember that last year he had some injuries and he is only 16, but - yeah - super exciting.

“I think the future with a lot of our young guys looks pretty promising, but it’s our responsibility to make sure they realise their potential and continue to work hard at their game.”

Moore has long been tipped for the top after impressing as he worked his way up the ranks of Tottenham’s academy.

During the 2022-23 season, while still a schoolboy, he helped Spurs complete the Under-17 and Under-18 Premier League Cup double.

Moore also became the youngest player to appear for Spurs’ Under-21 side since the formation of the Premier League 2, when he played against Manchester United in April, 2023, aged 15.
