Mikel Arteta told how to end poor record against Sean Dyche ahead of Arsenal vs Everton

Arsenal will take on Everton for the second time in just a couple of weeks as Mikel Arteta prepares to face a Sean Dyche side once again. The Gunners suffered a set back in their Premier League title challenge as the Toffees picked up a 1-0 win against Arteta's side in Dyche's first game in charge at Goodison Park.

The north Londoners suffered a second defeat of the season against Everton earlier this month which started a run of three games without a win. The Gunners got back to winning ways with a dramatic 4-2 victory against Unai Emery's Aston Villa before following that up with a win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal find themselves back at the top of the Premier League table after Manchester City dropped points against Nottingham Forest after their 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium earlier that week. Arteta will hope his side can get a rare win against a Dyche team on Wednesday night to extend their advantage over City to five points.

Gabriel Martinelli has scored in back-to-back games after enduring a bit of a goal drought and has now explained how the Gunners can break down teams that play in a low defensive block against the Premier League leaders. After the win against the Foxes, Martinelli told Standard Sport: “When we get in the final third, we need to be composed and keep going to find the right pass and the right player in the right position.

“I think we need to be patient. I think most of the games we have the ball all of the time and we need to just be patient, keep going and going - this is what we did today [against Leicester].”

Dyche is renowned for his defensive tactics and it worked wonders against Arsenal at Goodison Park, nullifying the likes of Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka. Arsenal's impressive performances this season and considerable attacking threat has seen teams like Newcastle, Brentford and Everton take points off them by setting up with a compact defensive shape to limit spaces in behind for Saka, Martin Odegaard and Co.

Everton may look to set up in a similar shape as they did for their win at Goodison Park, relying on their threat from set pieces to grab a goal and potentially cause another upset. Arteta may take Martinelli's words of advice and deploy a different system to try and counter Dyche's defensive tactics to extend Arsenal's title race advantage.
