Mikel Arteta stance on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Arsenal future revealed after transfer offer

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly yet to decide on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future as the striker continues to court interest.

The former Borussia Dortmund man currently has an uncertain future at the Emirates Stadium having had the captaincy stripped from him following a ‘disciplinary breach’, whilst he has also not been in contention for the squad since.

That has seen Aubameyang linked with a move away from north London, with the Gunners keen to bolster his attacking options - a swoop for prime target Dusan Vlahovic looking likely to end in frustration amid reports of a move to Juventus.

Amid that blow, Arteta appears to not yet have made his mind up over whether to retain the services of the Gabonese.

football.london understands that the Spaniard has met with Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke in America, with transfer talks expected to be conducted between the two.

It is also understood that Arsenal are open to offers for Aubameyang having received a loan offer from Saudi outfit Al-Nassr.

According to The Telegraph though, the 32-year-old has no desire to follow through with the switch and is instead eyeing a stay in Europe, with former employers AC Milan having reportedly emerged as contenders for his services.

However, there is hesitation over the possibility of letting Aubameyang leave on a loan deal to a European club - seeing the likelihood of a deal in the closing days of the January transfer window decrease.

The striker is currently in north London having returned from the African Cup of Nations with a suspected heart problem.

When probed on if Aubameyang could represent the Gunners again, Arteta remained focus on the task in getting him back to full fitness.

He said: “He contracted Covid and then the national team decided to bring him back here.

"We need to make sure the player's health is in the best possible condition and then we'll see what happens."

Aubameyang's contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in the summer of 2023, with the striker having scored 92 goals in 163 Arsenal appearances since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund.
