Mikel Arteta sends Bukayo Saka thinly-veiled message ahead of Bournemouth vs Arsenal

Arsenal have started the season in perfect fashion, winning each of their opening two Premier League fixtures.

Mikel Arteta's side faced the tough task of travelling to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace on the opening day of the campaign, a fixture they lost 3-0 last term. However, they were able to put that behind them as they clinched an impressive 2-0 victory against Patrick Vieira's side.

The Gunners then secured all three points last weekend as they defeated Leicester City 4-2, meaning they are one of just two teams to win both of their opening two league matches in the English-top flight this season. A big part of that is the form of attacking duo Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, who have both scored twice already this term.

The Brazilian internationals have looked devastating when partnered alongside Bukayo Saka in Arsenal's attack, with Arteta heaping praise on Jesus in particular during his pre-match press conference ahead of today's match against Bournemouth. "Probably the biggest difference since I worked with him is his maturity," the Spaniard said when discussing the club's new number nine.

"A few years have gone by and he’s had a few experiences. His language has improved so much and he’s got a different role here. I’m glad he’s enjoying and performing really well for the team."

He added: "I think he has improved a lot of areas in his game because he has more experience and he’s been working on them. What makes a difference is his attitude, his willingness and desire to win every single training session and every single ball and that’s what makes him the player that he is."

Arteta also went on to claim that he wants three players firing on all cylinders in attack, perhaps urging Saka to improve in the final third considering he is the only member of the starting front three that is yet to score this term. "Top teams, need top scorers," Arteta said.

"Not just one, ideally three. When you have those players who can hit those numbers that gives you every chance to be on top of the table."
