Mikel Arteta's unorthodox dressing room talk involving Arsenal fan of over 30 years

For Arsenal fans, nothing quite comes bigger than the North London derby against fierce rivals Tottenham.

And after a difficult start to the 2021/22 season, Mikel Arteta no doubt knew the importance it could have on his own future as his side prepared for battle on September 26 last season. The Gunners had lost their opening three matches before picking up successive wins over Norwich and Burnley - but it was the test with Spurs which would either appease the pressure, or heap it on further for Arsenal's manager.

In times like this, who do you turn to for a pre-match pep talk? In Arteta's case, none other than the club photographer of 30 years and lifelong fan Stuart MacFarlane of course. The trusted snapper was given the opportunity to offer some words of encouragement to his beloved Arsenal just moments before kick-off - and he duly delivered.

"This guy, for the last 30 years has captured emotions, emotions and teams," Arteta said, with MacFarlane's camera in hand. "I want you to hear from him, how he feels about you. And about our club."

In scenes set to be aired on Amazon Prime's All Or Nothing documentary, which is released on Thursday, MacFarlane then launches into an impassioned X-rated speech that roused Arsenal's troops.

"This is my club," he began. "I f*****g love this football club. And I f******g love all of you."

How will Arsenal fare this season? Have your say in the comments below.

With emotion in his voice, he continued: "In 30 years, I have photographed some unbelievable players, some world class players, some great teams. And I look at you lot, this is a great team. I have been a fan all my life. This is what we have to do, we have to go out and win.

"This is me. I am a fan. This lot outside… they would give anything to f*****g win today. Look at them. First f*****g tackle, listen to the crowd, they will f*****g be on you straight away. Win every tackle."

He finished by telling Arsenal's players: "When you score. Look in their faces. Look how much they love you. And show them how much you love them."

Arsenal's players roared with delight as MacFarlane was hugged by those around him.

His words clearly had an impact, as Arsenal raced out of the traps at the Emirates Stadium as goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had the Gunners 2-0 up inside 27 minutes, before Bukayo Saka grabbed a third just seven minutes later.

Tottenham simply couldn't deal with their neighbours as Nuno Espirito Santo could only watch on in horror as his game plan was ripped to shreds in front of his eyes. Son Heung-min pulled a goal back for the visitors late on, but it was scant consolation as they failed to recover from Arsenal's first half demolition, fuelled by MacFarlane's passionate words of encouragement.

It's certainly one for the photo album.
