Arsenal have confirmed their first signing of the summer as Fabio Vieira joins the club from FC Porto. The deal is said to be worth roughly £35million, with the attacking midfielder bolstering the ranks of Mikel Arteta ’s squad.
Discussing the signing, director Edu told the official Arsenal website : “We’re so pleased to have completed the signing of Fabio from FC Porto. Fabio is a player with special qualities who is comfortable with the ball in the final third of the pitch.
“We are all looking forward to working with him and enjoying his future contribution to Arsenal. We will now continue to work hard and are looking forward to finishing this transfer window as strongly possible.”

The suggestion from the former midfielder is that the work is far from done when it comes to summer signings. The Gunners are in need of squad depth and some added quality, having fallen short of a return to the Champions League last season.
A number of high-profile options have been linked with a move to the Emirates, as Arteta prepares for the upcoming pre-season. And next on the agenda, according to Fabrizio Romano, is Gabriel Jesus.
The Manchester City striker appears to be the first choice to replace Alexandre Lacazette, who left the club on a free transfer to return to Lyon. Roughly £50million is said to be the value set by the champions, with just one-year remaining on his contract.
It remains to be seen whether a deal can be closed out by the Gunners though, with plenty of other sides linked with a move for the Brazilian.
