Mikel Arteta 'predicted' Liverpool vs Man Utd score as Arsenal photo emerges before Nelson drama

Arsenal secured a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth in the most dramatic way possible.

The north London outfit trailed 2-0 with just 30 minutes to play at the Emirates Stadium but quick-fire finishes from Thomas Partey and Ben White gave the home side 20 minutes to find a winner and they did so in the most entertaining way possible. Substitute Reiss Nelson fired an incredible weak-footed strike past Cherries goalkeeper Neto in the seventh minute of injury time to complete the comeback and send the Emirates into a state of ecstasy.

Gunners supporters then enjoyed Sunday afternoon as potential Premier League title rivals Manchester United were thumped 7-0 by rivals Liverpool at Anfield. Fans flocked to social media to poke fun at Erik ten Hag's side, with some pointing out that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta inadvertently predicted how many United would concede against the Reds.

A picture of Arteta did the rounds on Twitter, with the Spaniard seen holding up seven fingers during the aforementioned match against Bournemouth. Of course, he was merely urging the fourth official to add on seven minutes of injury time in N5 before the board showed six instead.

Still, here is what a few of the Arsenal faithful said on Twitter.

@HaleEndFinesse: "Mikel Arteta predicted the scoreline for Liverpool vs Manchester United a day ago MY MANAGER (fire emoji)."

@kjasuquo: "Arteta predicted that Liverpool would put 7-0 pass Man united yesterday Arsenal master class."

@Charzo_12: "Arteta predicted today's game correctly."

@purelyarsenalFP: "Don Arteta predicted our goal minute and the score today #mygaffer."

@christy11241: "Arteta predicted the winner yesterday and the liverpool v Manchester United scores today What a manager (salute emoji."

Speaking about the chaotic celebrations after the full-time whistle, he said: "Crazy. You lose sight of where you are.

"I didn’t know where I was running to. But just looking at the faces of everybody, our staff, the players, all the supporters. The smiles and all that joy in their eyes, it’s just great to live."
