Mikel Arteta meets Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke in USA before Dubai trip as January transfer deadline looms

Mikel Arteta is currently in America visiting Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke before the club’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

Arsenal will begin work in Dubai on Thursday, returning the following Wednesday, and Arteta has used the time to visit Kroenke.

The trip is understood to have been pre-planned, but it is nonetheless at an ideal time given the transfer window shuts in less than one week.

Arteta and Kroenke have not been able to see each other face-to-face much due to travel restrictions enforced by the Covid-19 pandemic and the packed football fixture schedule.

The current break in the calendar is an ideal time to change that and Arteta has duly gone to see Kroenke, with the duo spotted together on Monday night at a National Hockey League (NHL) game between Kroenke’s in-form Colorado Avalanche and the Chicago Blackhawks at Ball Arena in Denver.

Arsenal now have a break until February 10, when they will return to Premier League action with a trip to Wolves. The club are hoping to play a behind-closed-doors friendly before that.
