Mikel Arteta 'loses patience' with £25m Arsenal star as PSG reportedly offered transfer

Arsenal have lost patience with Nicolas Pepe and have now offered him to Ligue 1 champions PSG, according to recent reports.

The Gunners signed Pepe for a club-record £72million back in the summer of 2019 after he just come off the back of a stellar campaign 2018/19 campaign with Lille. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, he has struggled for consistency in north London and fallen down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta's stewardship.

The 26-year-old's time at the club looks all but set to end this summer, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe all preferred on the flanks and he has since found a new agent ahead of the summer window. Now, French outlet Foot Mercato have reported that Arsenal have 'lost patience', with Pepe and have recently offered him to PSG, who will likely be in the market for a right-winger given Angel di Maria is heavily rumoured to be close to a move to Serie A giants Juventus.

Any transfer for the Ivory Coast international would likely cost less than half what the Gunners originally paid for him whilst CIES Football Observatory currently value him between €20million-€30million (£17million-£25million). Speaking about his future at the Emirates Stadium earlier this year, the talented winger admitted that his lack of game time has been a tough pill to swallow.

"I am focused on how well we do until the end of the season and the club's target, which is getting into the Champions League", he told The Daily Mail back in March. "Then we will see what happens."

"When a team is winning it is hard for a coach to make changes. Mikel Arteta has explained that to me and the coach knows what I think and how hard I'm working.

"It is also about communication. Sometimes it's not easy to communicate with the language barrier.

"It has been a tough season for me. Of course, it is frustrating not to play.

"No player enjoys not playing but I have to respect the coach's decision and the team is doing well at the moment."
