Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insists the club will not be rushing to offload players in the January transfer window.

Standard Sport understands Fulham are targeting a move for Cedric Soares, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium. Bayer Leverkusen and Villarreal are also keen on the 31-year-old.

William Saliba’s impressive start to life in the Arsenal first-team has forced Ben White, while Takehiro Tomiyasu provides another option.

Still, despite the Portugal international’s lack of action, Arteta is eager to ensure his squad has sufficient cover in the second half of the season.

“We know where we are in terms of the squad and the numbers that we have, so we’re going to be extremely cautious in what we do in this window,” said Arteta.

The Gunners boss has already confirmed the club would be active in the market and the injury to Gabriel Jesus has left Arteta short of attacking options.

Arsenal are in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over a deal for Ukraine winger Mykhaylo Mudryk as they aim to drive down the Ukrainian club’s £85m asking price.
