After losing out on Mykhailo Mudryk last week, Arsenal fans have been eagerly awaiting news on moves for potential alternatives and now they’ve got just that.
football.london understands the Gunners are in talks to sign wantaway Brighton forward Leandro Trossard, as first revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Trossard has just six months remaining on his current deal at the Amex, making him a feasible option in the remaining days of the January window.
The 28-year-old also finds himself out of favour after falling out with manager Roberto De Zerbi, who publicly questioned his attitude. The Belgian was left out of the Brighton squad that beat Liverpool 3-0 last Saturday and a move is viewed as the best solution, a statement by his agent confirmed.

Although his arrival will not cause the same level of excitement that surrounded Chelsea's latest recruit, Trossard can be viewed as a low-risk signing that will cost no more than £27million. The age difference compared to Mudryk, 22, is the main factor behind supporters’ reservations, but it can play a positive part in where Arsenal are and where they want to be.
Trossard has made 140 Premier League and international appearances combined and would be the sixth-oldest player in the Gunners squad should he join. Not only will he bring valuable experience to a young team pushing for the title and Champions League football, but he can guide an Arsenal attack which has an average age of just 22.
Fans can also take confidence in knowing he has a lot to offer going forward, too. Prior to his exclusion from the Brighton squad, Trossard found the back of the net against the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, bagging a hat-trick away at Anfield. In total, the former Genk man has seven goals and three assists to his name this season.
Then there is also his versatility and ability to play anywhere across the frontline. Although he is predominantly right-footed, Trossard has scored several goals with his left, including the aforementioned hat-trick at Liverpool. It means he will be able to provide cover and competition for Bukayo Saka, who has often lacked sufficient support on the right flank.
Despite Martin Odegaard possessing the captain’s armband, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Jesus have often used their experience and expertise to help the younger players around them. There is no reason why Trossard can’t do the same, in addition to providing quality and much-needed depth.
