Arsenal may well be back in the market for a striker in the January transfer window. That is because of the injury suffered by summer signing Gabriel Jesus during his World Cup campaign with Brazil.
Jesus had largely played a watching brief until being given the opportunity from the start for Brazil against Cameroon in their final group game after the Selecao had already qualified for the knockout stages. His match was cut short though when he was withdrawn after 64 minutes.
And it has transpired that Jesus picked up a knee injury during the defeat to Cameroon. It is an injury that, depending on which reports you believe, could keep him out for three weeks or three months, depending on if he requires surgery.

Jesus was a big summer signing from Manchester City for Arsenal, brought in to lead the line following the departures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Jesus had scored five Premier League goals prior to going out to the World Cup and offered much more to the Gunners' side as they topped the Premier League table too.
He will be missed, and Arsenal could be tempted to enter the transfer market for a replacement. One name that is likely to be mooted once more is that of Dusan Vlahovic.
The Serbian netted his first World Cup goal against Switzerland in their final group game before being eliminated. The Gunners were linked with a move for the big frontman in the summer, but he instead chose Juventus.
Reports have linked the Gunners with another move this January with Italian news outlet Calciomercato reporting that the Gunners are monitoring the striker.
The report claims that Edu is set to try and make up for the missed opportunities of signing a central midfielder and forward in the summer by plotting a £100million double transfer swoop for Juventus stars Vlahovic and Fabio Miretti. However, manager Mikel Arteta has already revealed why Vlahovic will not become an Arsenal player.
In 2020, Arteta said in an interview with Ian Wright that he should not have to do too much convincing for a player to join Arsenal otherwise he would not sign them, and with so much reluctance on Vlahovic’s end previously, Arteta would be going against what he previously claimed.
After the snub, Arteta even went on to take a swipe at the Serbia international, stating: "We only want the best people and the best players at this club and when we are in a rush or different pressures, and the reasons are not the right ones to get a player on board, we decided not to do it."
