Arsenal will need to sign a midfielder in the summer in order to improve Mikel Arteta’s options in the middle of the park. Manchester United have exposed a transfer possibility for the Gunners, which would certainly please Arsene Wenger.
According to the Guardian, Manchester United are interested in N’Golo Kante and want to find out if Chelsea are willing to sell this summer. The report does go on too add that the Blues would rather make space by selling Jorginho over Kante.
But if a deal does become available then it is certainly a transfer the Gunners should look to explore. Kante has consistently shown that he is one of the best midfielders in Europe over the past few years, and he would certainly enhance the current Arsenal midfield.

Former Gunners boss Wenger was a huge fan of the Frenchman, which was proven by his attempts to sign him on numerous occasions. In 2017, journalists asked him whether he ever tried to sign the France international, and Wenger admitted he had: "When he was in France, when he was at Leicester."
Arsenal came close to signing him in 2016 from Leicester, but agent fees reportedly prevented the deal, and Wenger went on to sign Granit Xhaka a few weeks later for £35m. Arteta could now potentially revere this situation as football.london understands that Roma are expected to make a fresh attempt to sign Xhaka at the end of the season.
Since Kante’s move to Leicester in 2015 he has gone on to become one of the best midfielders in Europe by winning back-to-back Premier League titles, the World Cup, and the Champions League, and in all of these honours, Kante played a pivotal role.
Arsenal have signed players from Chelsea who were over age of 30 in recent years that have not gone to plan. Petr Cech, David Luiz, and Willian all joined the Gunners from Chelsea but were all underwhelming during their tenure in north London.
However, Kante certainly has the tools to break this trend. He would fit perfectly next to Thomas Partey in the midfield, in what would certainly be a dominant duo. His presence in a three-man midfield could also be the trick to success.
Thomas Partey and Mohammed Elneny would be the only experienced midfielders in the team if Xhaka is to depart at the end of the season. Albert Sambi Lokonga and Charlie Patino have the potential but are still yet to register a full Premier League season under their belt with regular game-time.
Kante would certainly be an excellent acquisition for the Gunners if Chelsea decide to sell the Frenchman. Arsenal need midfielders who can dominate the middle of the park, which is what Kante has been doing over the last seven years.
