Mikel Arteta has delivered a detailed explanation in how Arsenal operate as a club during the transfer window.
The Gunners have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs this summer, securing deals for Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Marquinhos, as well as moving on a number of fringe players on permanent and loan deals. Nicolas Pepe is the latest player that looks set to leave the Emirates Stadium with Ligue 1 side OGC Nice looking to sign the Ivorian winger on a season-long loan deal, football.london understands.
Arsenal have spent in excess of £100million for a second successive summer with technical director Edu working hard behind the scenes to reshape Arteta's squad and meet the Spaniard's demands. Arteta has since revealed how the club come to make their decisions on recruitment, highlighting the roles of Stan Kroenke, Edu and other key departments at the London Colney.

Speaking to football.london ahead of the Gunners' clash against Bournemouth, the Spanish manager spoke in great detail on how the club's recruitment team work. Arteta said: "This is club recruitment and it goes from the top – with ownership, with Stan and Josh, all the way with all the board, Edu, myself, all the academy, we are all together in this.
"It’s not a decision made my myself. We try to expose a plan that we want to execute and every case is different."
The All or Nothing: Arsenal documentary from Amazon Prime has given supporters an interesting insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes at the club, with particular scenes highlighting the discussions that Edu has with other staff members on how to reshape the squad, looking at areas with lots of depth and those that lack quality and cover. Arteta is a big believer in the current method the Gunners use to decide upon which players to pursue and which players to try and move on in the transfer market.
"We discuss it, we come together and we make a final decision based on that. And when that decision is made, don’t look back," the Arsenal boss continued.
"It’s made, it’s not my decision, this decision is our decision and we will continue to do that because I think it’s working pretty well."
Jesus and Zinchenko both arrived from Manchester City this summer with Arteta having previously worked with the pair during his time at the Etihad Stadium working under Pep Guardiola. The Brazilian striker and Ukrainian defender have had an instant impact at Arsenal, with the former scoring twice and providing a further two assists in the recent 4-2 win over Leicester last weekend.
Fans are yet to get a glimpse of Vieira's quality in an Arsenal shirt after Arteta lauded the Portuguese playmaker for his performance for the under-21s against Swansea earlier this week. The Gunners are still active in the transfer market with the Spaniard admitting 'anything can happen' with just under two weeks left before deadline day, as Edu and other parties involved in the recruitment process look to put the squad in the best shape possible heading further into the season.
