Mikel Arteta delivers 3-word Gabriel update after Arsenal vs Liverpool Jordan Henderson incident

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that defender Gabriel Magalhaes is 'OK' following the incident with Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson during the 3-2 win at the Emirates Stadium.

The Brazilian was involved in an incident with the England midfielder after Michael Oliver awarded the Gunners a penalty which Bukayo Saka converted as the winning goal. Referee Oliver ran to the touchline to speak with Arteta and Jurgen Klopp to discuss an argument that erupted inside the Liverpool penalty area.

Gabriel was an unused substitute in the following game in Norway against Bodo/Glimt before returning to the starting line-up at Elland Road against Leeds United. Henderson started in Liverpool's 7-1 Champions League victory at Rangers before managing over 15 minutes in Sunday's win over Manchester City.

Both players have presented their cases to the FA, with the governing body confirming they will speak to the fixture officials in the near future. Ahead of Arsenal's Europa League game against PSV tomorrow (Thursday), Arteta was asked about the defender's well-being.

The Gunners manager provided a brief answer, saying: "He is OK."

The outcome of the FA's investigation is still yet to be concluded, but both clubs have vowed to follow the FA's disciplinary procedures on the matter. The FA released a brief statement after the match, which read: "We are aware of an incident that took place during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in dialogue with the match officials and will review the details of the incident."
