Mikel Arteta confirms Arsenal ‘trying’ to seal Mykhaylo Mudryk transfer as confidence grows

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal are “determined to try and improve the team in every window” as the Gunners work on a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Arsenal have had two bid rejected for Mudryk, but they are growing in confidence that a deal can be done this month.

The Gunners have indicated they are ready to part with as much as £60million upfront and the key point of talks now revolves around the structuring of add-ons, with Shakhtar holding out for £85m in total.

Arsenal’s No1 priority this month is to sign a new wide forward and Arteta has confirmed the club are doing all they can to bolster the squad.

“We cannot talk about any other players,” he said, when quizzed directly about a deal for Mudryk.

“There are some interest and things that we would like to do to improve the team obviously, because we are bit short in certain areas and with injuries that we picked [up.]

“But we are trying. As a club, we are determined to try and improve the team in every window - and that’s what we are trying to do.”
