Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted the Gunners "are active" in the transfer market as they look to bolster their options during the upcoming January window.
The Spaniard also kept his cards close to his chest over whether there were any new targets that have emerged as a direct result of their performances at the World Cup. Arteta has just reunited with most of his players as Arsenal secured the Dubai Super Cup with an impressive 2-1 win over AC Milan in a mid-season friendly that featured a stunning Martin Odegaard free-kick.
Arsenal were without talismanic forward Gabriel Jesus, who is set to spend around three months on the sidelines while he recovers from knee surgery. In turn, speculation is rife that Arteta will try to land the signature of a new forward as his replacement.
The Gunners have also been searching for a new winger since the summer, with Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk the rumoured preferred candidate.
The 21-year-old's agents are reported to have met with a number of different Premier League sides in an attempt to facilitate their client's exit from the Ukrainian giants. Optimistically valued at £100million by his club, there is growing belief Mudryk could be purchased for £40m as the window drags on.
In the aftermath of the win over Milan, Arteta admitted Arsenal would like to bring in some new recruits next month should the right players become available.

"We are looking and we are active in the possibilities. If we can find the players that will strengthen the team, we will try," the Arsenal manager revealed.
Given the Gunners potential need for another forward after Jesus' injury, the likes of Goncalo Ramos and Cody Gakpo have shone for Portugal and the Netherlands respectively at the World Cup and as a result have seen their names touted with a move to the Emirates.
Pressed for comment on whether anyone out in Qatar has impressed the Arsenal boss, Arteta added: "There are a few, and a few national teams as well.
"A lot of things they are doing are very interesting and it shows where the game is going, where it is evolving, but as for players – I’ll keep that to myself!"
Arsenal will welcome back key players Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale in the coming days after the pair were out in Qatar on England duty for the World Cup, while some other Gunners stars who also represented their country have already returned.
Ghana's Thomas Partey and Ben White, who left the England camp early, both featured in the first half against Serie A titans Milan.
