As the spark finally looks to reappear for Arsenal this season, there is a strong sense that things are moving in the right direction. A talented young manager is leading a youthful side that is full of potential, continuing its hunt for Champions League qualification.
No matter how the season finishes, however, we are set to come out of it with renewed hope and encouragement. The squad is healthy, the characters are unique and the ambition is there. The mission is far from over and there's still plenty of work to be done, but the future looks bright.
These positive factors are not alone when it comes to enticing players to join this summer, far from it. Despite its recent struggles, Arsenal Football Club remains one of the most prestigious in the world. It holds an incredible history and has been home to some of the best stars to ever grace the pitch, which could be key for one of Mikel Arteta's reported transfer targets.

According to Voetbal International, Arsenal are in 'pole position' and currently leading the race to sign highly-rated PSV Eindhoven forward, Cody Gakpo. The 22-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided 13 assists in 37 games so far this season, leading to interest from several European clubs. Reports suggest it will take at least £35m to strike a deal.
Able to operate on the wing or as a centre forward, Gakpo offers versatility that can add extra options to the Arsenal attack. Standing at around 6'1 also means he possesses an increased aerial threat which the Gunners' frontline currently lacks.
Despite being in his early twenties, the Dutch international has captained his side on a number of occasions and is viewed as a leader within the PSV squad.
Without a doubt, Gakpo would be a luxury player to have at Arsenal and it would be a major coup to secure his signature. But with the likes of Bayern Munich, Man City and Liverpool all said to have shown an interest, a move is unlikely to be straightforward.
This is where Dennis Bergkamp's name comes in. An Arsenal legend who scored 113 goals and provided 94 assists, becoming one of the all-time greats in Premier League history. Today, his very own statue stands proudly outside the Emirates Stadium, highlighting just how big an icon he was and continues to be for so many people.
Arteta has previously said that a player should never have to be convinced to join a club like Arsenal and whilst I agree, including a little sweetener in talks wouldn't do any harm. Gakpo can be offered the chance to follow in the non-flying Dutchman's footsteps and that should be reiterated should discussions over a potential move take place.
Bergkamp himself could also play a part directly by putting in a good word or offering Gakpo tips and advice if he joined. The Gunners may not be at the level of Man City or Liverpool at the moment, but the intention is there to eventually match it.
Arteta and technical director Edu can certainly present an exciting opportunity to any player this summer, but if this particular one required icing on the cake, Bergkamp's influence and legacy should be used to Arsenal's advantage.
