Mikel Arteta and Edu sent reminder of Arsenal transfer priority after what happened vs Wolves

Arsenal's summer transfer window is set to be a busy one after last month saw no incomings at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were determined to add a new striker to their ranks throughout the January transfer window, with Dusan Vlahovic the number one target, but the Serbian ended up completing a £66million move to Juventus instead.

football.london understands that Arsenal have identified Alexander Isak and Jonathan David as two targets ahead of the summer transfer window, with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah looking set to leave the Emirates.

If Mikel Arteta and Edu needed any more reminding about Arsenal's need for a new striker, then a moment in the first-half against Wolves will have highlighted it to them.

After a fine passing move, that started all the way from the heart of defence, the Gunners carved through Wolves, only for the ball to fall to Lacazette after some fine play from Bukayo Saka. However, the Frenchman hit the ball straight at the goalkeeper with a rather tame effort.

Lacazette, this season, has just three Premier League goals to his name. The 30-year-old's contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he looks certain to leave the club.

The Isak hope

There's no doubt that Arsenal are big fans of the aforementioned Isak, who signed a new contract with Real Sociedad last summer that has a £75million release clause included.

The Sweden international has been impressive over the last couple of seasons for club and country - and he did open the door to a possible switch to the Premier League last year.

Speaking to The Independent in November 2021, Isak said: "I am in a good place at the moment, I am very happy, but one day it would be nice to play in England as well.

"They have six or seven of the biggest clubs in the world, it is a very high level, and of course one day it would be an alternative. Every player wants to be the best version of themselves and reach the highest possible level.

"I have expectations for myself that I am trying to fulfil, so we’ll see where the journey takes me in future."
