Mikel Arteta and Edu's Arsenal transfer priority revealed and it's not Alexander Isak

Arsenal's No.1 transfer target is Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to recent reports.

The Gunners has been chasing Dusan Vlahovic but as football.london reported earlier this month the Serbian international always preferred a move to Serie A before joining Juventus on Friday evening.

Real Sociedad star Alexander Isak has also been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium but transfer guru Paul Brown has claimed that it is in fact Calvert-Lewin that the north Londoners are chasing.

Brown told Givemesport: "I'm told Calvert-Lewin is the one they really want. They've been monitoring him for a long, long time.

"I think even before (Mikel) Arteta came in; he was someone that was flagged up to Arsenal's recruitment people as a player they thought could one day become a big star.

"He is becoming a big star at Everton, but Arsenal are aware there's absolutely no chance of Everton sanctioning Calvert-Lewin's sale this window."

Manchester United Icon Rio Ferdinand has previously agreed with Brown's assessment, also stating that there is 'no chance' the prolific frontman makes the move before Monday night's deadline.

"There’s no way," Ferdinand told his Vibe with Five YouTube channel when asked about the 24-year-old making a move to the north Londoners.

"I don’t think Everton let Calvert-Lewin go in this window, no chance. He’s one of the crown jewels. No way!"

The England international enjoyed an extremely productive 2020/21 campaign, netting 16 Premier League goals for the Toffees - an impressive feat when you consider none of those were from the penalty spot.

However, he has endured numerous injury problems this term, featuring just six times in the league so far.
