New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel is beginning to build the coaching staff.
While there’s no clear timeline for finalizing the staff, Vrabel did indicate that former longtime Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was on his list of candidates.
“Yeah,” Vrabel responded on “The Greg Hill Show,” when asked if McDaniels was on his list of candidates.
McDaniels has been connected to Vrabel since the beginning of the Patriots’ head coaching search. If he joins Vrabel’s staff, it would be his third stint with the team as an offensive coordinator.
The Patriots made the playoffs, and Mac Jones was a Pro Bowler as a rookie under McDaniels when he last coached for the Patriots. There’s hope that he could do great things with Drake Maye’s exceptional talent.
#Patriots HC Mike Vrabel on hiring a staff and offensive coordinator:
“No timeline….A few weeks, it could go out longer than that….We’re going to start that process today…and visit with some great coaches.”
Whether Josh McDaniels is one the list:
“Yeah.”

Time will tell if McDaniels is chosen and ultimately accepts an opportunity to return to New England. The team could go in a bunch of different directions, but it would make sense that talking to McDaniels would be at the top of the list.
