The New England Patriots have hired former NFL head coach Doug Marrone to join their staff. This was reported by Pats Pro and Joseph Pasteris, before being confirmed by multiple media outlets.
Marrone’s role with the organization is not known at this time.
One thing is certain: He has experience at all levels of the NFL. Along with being a former head coach, he was also an offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.
His last run as a head coach came with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017-2020. He last served as a senior analyst for football strategy at Boston College.
Marrone has worked as an offensive line coach as far back as 1993. He was the offensive line coach for Alabama in 2021, before serving the same position with the New Orleans Saints from 2022-2023.
Two-time NFL head coach Doug Marrone, who most recently was at Boston College as a Senior Analyst for Football Strategy, is joining the Patriots’ coaching staff.
Marrone’s specific position is TBA. His history/background w/ OL play is notable.

This hire adds further experience to Mike Vrabel’s coaching staff. The offensive line was a source of weakness for the Patriots last season, and Marrone’s familiarity with that positional unit could be beneficial.
