Mike Tyson tells Conor McGregor it's hard to "stay ready" with current lifestyle

Mike Tyson has warned Conor McGregor it is hard to "stay ready" while he lives his current lifestyle ahead of his UFC comeback.

The Irishman is known for living a life of luxury having been named as the highest earning sportsperson for 2021 by Forbes after two defeats by Dustin Poirier in the UFC. He is now stepping up comeback plans as he looks to make a return at 170lb later this year after making a full recovery from his broken leg.

Tyson has suggested that McGregor could struggle to continue his UFC career if you have a "$40 million" fight. "It's hard to stay ready with that lifestyle," Tyson said on his HotBoxin' podcast during a conversation with Israel Adesanya. "Have you ever had a $40million fight, then talk to me later.

"When you got a $40 million fight and the week after you have that money, and they are telling you that you have to fight in six weeks it becomes harder to get out of bed. You end up saying ' how much money is it? Give me $5million more'."

McGregor's lifestyle has been a talking point throughout his career particularly since his recent decline which has seen him win just one of his last four bouts. The Irishman has been relaxing in several luxury holiday destinations including Dubai, Miami, Rome and Los Angeles.

He has also been partying and enjoying himself having opened his own pub in Dublin. McGregor promised fans he would stop drinking alcohol but posted several pieces of footage on social media that concerned fans including a rambling social media message.

However McGregor has since renewed his promise to fans to stop drinking and is plotting his return opponent after returning to boxing training. Despite question marks over his lifestyle, McGregor has shown off a tremendous physique during his escapades abroad which has seen him balloon to 190lb.

This has led to the Irishman eyeing a return at 170lb and has proposed an immediate title shot against pound-for-pound king Kamaru Usman. UFC legend Georges St Pierre also fired a previous warning at McGregor that his lifestyle will eventually catch up with him as he approaches the later stages of his career.

" Conor McGregor, now his stock is going down," St-Pierre said during an interview with Sporf. "He was very high in the beginning and I'm talking about in terms of, not in terms of money of promotion, in terms of status and in the rankings. Now he's, he's going down, his stock is going down.

"There's been a few fights that it's going down a little bit. There is a possibility that he might come back up but I think now things do not go well for him. You need to change some of his lifestyle."
