The rumbling, stumbling mess that was the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense for much of the season may have finally found its way. Mike Tomlin made the tough but right decision to cut ties with offensive coordinator Matt Canada. But it’s the announcement presser after the decision that is turning heads.
Aside from Dan Campbell, Mike Tomlin is one of the best at saying what he thinks and providing coaching that makes you want to run through a wall. It’s part of why Tomlin has been able to maintain an above .500 record in Pittsburgh for 16 seasons.
When asked how the Steelers will proceed with life after Canada, particularly regarding the development of quarterback Kenny Pickett, Tomlin dropped a rather odd but surprisingly on-brand quote.
Never change, Mike.
Mike Tomlin on if these next 7 games are important in Kenny’s development:
“I’m focused on this week in terms of the development of Kenny. We’re not urinating on the fire, man.”#steelers #kennypickett pic.twitter.com/99S4xFwBr1
