Mike Tindall 'signs up' for I'm A Celebrity as show bags first ever royal family member

Mike Tindall has reportedly signed up for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.

The former rugby player - who would be the first ever royal family member to sign up to the ITV show - is said to have agreed to join the next series of the programme as it makes its return to Australia for the first time since the pandemic.

Ahead of the upcoming series, rumours have been swirling on who might be the next to enter the jungle.

The ITV show will return later this year as hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly head Down Under with a new set of famous faces.

Reports from The Sun have suggested Mike - who is married to Zara Tindall, the daughter of Anne, Princess Royal - will join the upcoming series in what has been a "massive coup" for the ITV show. Mike would be the first ever royal on the show.

"It’s a massive coup. Mike has had a box seat for some of the most important moments in royal history for generations," a source shared, "He is sure to be discreet, but his sheer presence means this series will be an absolute must-watch."

The Mirror have contacted representatives for Mike Tindall for comment.

A spokesperson for the show said in a statement: "Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! are just speculation. We'll announce our line up for the new series nearer its transmission."

The rumours surrounding Mike's appearance on the show comes after The Mirror confirmed Chris Moyles is heading to the jungle.

During a chat with former campmate Vernon Kay on his Radio X show, he said: "I papped myself and I realised I’m more scared of heights than I actually genuinely thought I was," as he spoke of his trip to a Go Ape centre with his family.

Vernon - who took part in the 2020 series, which was held in a Welsh castle - then replied: "I honestly had a blast, and anyone who gets asked to do it, I would say to them now ‘don’t hesitate’. Yeah, it’s awful, as in the cockroaches, creepy crawlies, spiders and snakes and all that palaver, but as an experience it’s probably one of the best I’ve ever had in telly."

Ant and Dec have shared their excitement about the show returning to its "spiritual home" of Australia after two years.

"The plan is, we’re going back to Australia, we don’t want to go elsewhere. It’s got to go back to it. Back to its spiritual home, back to where it all started. Everyone wants to see a bit of sunshine at that time of year on the telly," Ant said.

Dec added: "If they’ll let us in the country, we’ll be back in. We had two lovely years in Wales, we really enjoyed our time in Wales, but this show has to be in Australia, we have to go back."
