Mike Tindall's medals explained as former England rugby player wears three at Queen's funeral

A number of people took to social media to question what the three medals were that former England rugby player Mike Tindall wore during The Queen's funeral service.

People speculated over what the medals were awarded for, given he has no military experience.

However, the 2003 Rugby World Cup winner was wearing his MBE, awarded after the triumph in Australia, and his Diamond and Platinum jubilee medals, handed out in 2012 and 2022 respectively, reports The Mirror.

Tindall made 75 appearances for England in rugby union and represented Bath and Gloucester during a 17-year professional career.

The 43-year-old married into the Royal Family in 2011 when he wed Princess Anne's daughter Zara, herself an international sportsperson. She won a silver medal for Team GB in the equestrian team event at London 2012.

King Charles III sported his Royal Navy uniform at the Queen's funeral, while heir William wore RAF colours in a nod to the branches of the armed forces in which they each served.

The King wore full-size medals including the Queen's Service Order (New Zealand), Coronation Medal, Silver Jubilee Medal, Golden Jubilee Medal, Diamond Jubilee Medal, Platinum Jubilee Medal and a Naval Long Service Good Conduct (LSGC) (three x Additional Service Bars).

William, the newly-named Prince of Wales, wore the RAF No 1 uniform with the Garter Sash with RAF Pilot Wings and the Garter Star Chest Order.

The Princess Royal wore a Royal Navy full ceremonial uniform in the rank of Admiral.
