Mike Tindall reportedly failed to ask King Charles III for permission to appear in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
It has been rumoured the former England rugby player, who is married to the late Queen's granddaughter Zara Tindall, will be on the reality show.
Reports have suggested Mike will join the upcoming series in what has been a "massive coup" for the ITV show. He would be the first-ever royal on the show.
However, it has been reported in The Times he 'did not seek permission' from the new king.
The publication added because he could potentially earn six figures, Palace courtiers could find it difficult to get him to change his decision.
Mirror have contacted his representatives for comment.
The ITV show will return later this year as hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly head Down Under with a new set of famous faces.
It was first rumoured Mike is taking part in the upcoming series earlier this month.
"It’s a massive coup. Mike has had a box seat for some of the most important moments in royal history for generations," a source shared.
"He is sure to be discreet, but his sheer presence means this series will be an absolute must-watch."
A spokesperson for the show said in a statement: "Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! are just speculation. We'll announce our line up for the new series nearer its transmission."
Ant and Dec have shared their excitement about the show returning to its "spiritual home" of Australia after two years.
"The plan is, we’re going back to Australia, we don’t want to go elsewhere. It’s got to go back to it. Back to its spiritual home, back to where it all started. Everyone wants to see a bit of sunshine at that time of year on the telly," Ant said.

Mike previously had to ask permission from The Queen before appearing on Channel 4's The Jump in 2015.
He was beaten by former TOWIE star Joey Essex in the final of the second series of The Jump.
Thankfully, the late monarch was fine with Mike ski jumping, speed skating and the giant slalom among other winter sports for the star-studded reality TV show - with Mike impressing viewers with how he handled a horrific crash during one stunt.
"I thought I'd demonstrate how NOT to do the ski jump and how to land on your head," the royal sarcastically quipped to presenter Davina McCall, after taking a tumble on the slopes and banging his head on the ice."
Mike went on to joke he was 'face-planting the ice on purpose' in a bid to fix his famous broken nose.
